The Purdie Shuffle or half time shuffle was made famous by the legendary drummer, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. You can also hear him playing it on songs such as Steely Dan's "Home at Last" and "Babylon Sisters". Another example of the Purdie shuffle is on Toto's "Rosanna" which is played by drummer, Jeff Porcaro. Check out the video below with Jeff explaining how he used this groove as the basis of the beat for "Rosanna".
